Two ladies fell into an uncovered manhole inside minutes within the Bhandup space of Maharashtra capital Mumbai on Wednesday. Fortunately, each escaped unharmed. A video of the incident has gone viral.
The video clip exhibits a girl strolling on a water-logged pavement amid heavy rains. Out of the blue, she fell into the open manhole, which she could not spot because it was stuffed with water. Inside minutes, one other lady fell into the manhole.
After social media customers slammed Mumbai’s civic physique, BMC, for the lapse, it mentioned the manhole has been lined.

“Manholes are inspected and repaired as part of pre-monsoon work. However, after yesterday’s heavy rains, the corporation is once again inspecting all the roads and manholes,” the civic physique mentioned in a press release.
“Necessary replacement of manholes is being done. Strict instructions were given by the Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal and Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) P Velarasu to the concerned departments,” it added.
Mumbai, the nation’s business capital, is infamous for water-logging throughout the monsoon season.
